Week in Review #2

Draft, Sox Sweep em up, and Big week for Matt Giraud

DRAFY DAY-Ok let's start with defense, those players have a better track record anyway, Mel Kiper gave the Packers an A grade with Raji and Mathews...I agree. Some other worthy defensive draft picks were the skins deciding to think like football people not like headline makers and go with a very talented Brian Orakpo, he's very good, the Saints got Malcolm Jenkins a nice player, and the Broncos got a much needed speedy linebacker in Ayers that will do them so good. On the offensive side i'm not gonna sugar coat it, Sanchez and Stafford are both overrated and over paid...wow that much cash for two kids that have done absolutely nothing. (I am not an expert but would say of the two if I were playing fantasy I would go with Stafford simply because he will chunk it up in the air and let Calvin Johnson grab it for him...wait maybe these picks weren't so bad...after all Sanchez is going to a running team with a great offenseive line, and good defense) The Jets gave up too much and should've got D Anderson from the Browns or Jason Cambell (they are not a throwing team anyway why get a flashy Sanchez), the Lions are betting on Stafford to be good, and I think he can be, but would you care if you were good or not, if you were guaranteed 40+ million...??? Like Chris Wells for Arizona, wanted the Pats to get em, and love Moreno for the Broncos (draft this guy), again that will be a marching offense to keep their mediocre defense off the field...he will fit right in. And the Pats...trade trade trade...no Peppers yet??? I'm on watch still though...nice job with S Chung, DT Brace, and DB Butler...they love their cheap 2nd rounders. Still think some moves will be made, Braylon Edwards I expect to go, and Boldin still should go to the Eagles (who got a nice one, two punch now with Jackson and Maclin). We will see, my wish is still Peppers, come on you know you want to go undefeated.

Sox Nation Another series with the evil empire...another sweep for the rebel-sox. 1,2,3...count em classic games that had a little bit of everything if your a baseball fan...a steal of home plate (never seen that before with a sox guy)...a tremendous comeback featuring the "C" man Tek hitting a granny, and of course ball after ball thrown in the direction of Jeter's pretty face...sorry bout that, but it adds to the drama. I am starting to love this team...Masterson is great and versatile, Lowell can still play...but not run, the sox bullpen is stacked, Papi is starting to go the other way...stay tuned fantasy players...he's about to heat up, and finally my favorite Red Sox player currently the long tenured Tim Wakefield is leading our pitching staff with two complete games, and a very nice 2.45 era, and 1.05 whip...not bad for an aging knuckler with a bad back...I will always remember these great times when you are struggling...you are priceless. Nice work Sox, time to go to work on the Indians now...10 wins in a row and the hottest team in the bigs. thanks for coming Yankees...your welcome at Fenway (the new Cathedral of baseball since you tore down Yankee stadium shamelessly) anytime.

Matt step it up Matt Giraud needs to step it up on Idol this week. If you follow this blogger you know our theory...look out for a great performance or I will have to admit being wrong...I hate that. Also look for a drop off from one of the big two...my guess Gokey but could be Adam...Kris or Allison may leave but I will post an update after tues night. Vote for Matt if he deserves it!!

For the record...I hate my managers right now Francona (red sox) left Beckett who was getting shelled in the sixth when he was clearly out of gas and still had a chance at the win, only to see him blow a two run lead...ridiculous, and Doc Rivers put Tony Allen in "for defensive purposes" late in a pivotal Bulls/Celts playoff game...for what Tony Allen hadn't played all game...oh yeah and he doesn't play defense Doc!...whatever?

  2. The Yankees biggest problem in that series is their outfield play or lack of. Too many balls were over the head of a lead footed (former Bosox) Johnny (I can't run or throw) Damon. Maybe reacquiring Gary Sheffield wouldn't have been such a bad idea. Sheff is a pain in the ass but he's got an arm.

The steal at home is a rarity for sure but if Andy Pettit will be remembered for a blunder this one will be it.

Joe Girarridi may very well be doing a Marie Antionette imitation of a beheading. If we don't win some games, like Boston games he's done. The Boss will axe him like some beef. Texieria showed great discipline by taking 4 walks in one game. I beleive it was Saturdays game. Jeter maned up, did well as usual

  3. I think Girardi may be gone by the end of the year...Donny baseball was the right choice they goofed. Jeter is still good but Texieria shouldn't get any credit for this team's success, he has yet to produce with that big wallet weighing him down...We pushed on our wager but next games are in New York so we will see. Gotta love the steal of home plate...just a cool baseball play. oh yeah and I agree that outfield is rough...go get Matt Holiday or something.

  4. Tex. (as he'll be referred to from this point on) Did well against the Phil's last night 3-3 3 rbi's good night at the office. Swisher 1-1 & a rbi not bad either, Matsui went yard for us. Beating the Defending champs is always a plus for you when you've been on a skid. In the hole 2 games for now.

The Dodgers (Mom's team, I just root for them outta respect for Mom) Is kicking ass in the West, perfect at home thus far. All's well here.

Yanks host the Halo's, with Pettit on the bump, Dodgers vs San Diego with a weak Kershaw for them. Looking forward to some highlights and another Yankees win!

  5. Well Wes, first of all the Yanks played the Tigers and now are playing the Angels...but regardless of going 3-3 your boy Tex is still bating less than 200 AVG that can't be what you get for 20 mill a year. That on top of the A-rod stuff is all in all a bad week for the Yankees...but if bad news helps them win, let me throw a few more things I out there I would like to hear about dem Yanks!...Jeter rolls and breaks his ankle attempting to sneak out the back window of Mariah Carey's house, Matsui's porn collection makes him lose track of time and he misses ten straight games, Damon decides to get the Boston B tattooed on forehead and is booed off the field, and lastly C.C. sees an all you eat sign and eats to a mild heart...maybe you can hit another streak.

  6. My appoligies for the "unexcusable blunder I made the other night. God only knows where my head was. I looked the fool and at least that time i was the fool.

Ahhh Nick if there was anything interesting going on up in Boston folks would be talking about it. Unfortunitally ever since the video scandle and the enormous choke job the Pats did in their last Super Bowl appearance nothing has been said about them. Well perhaps the blunder they made in getting rid of Cassel in the off season. That will come back to haunt them. Tom (I'm not so terrific laying on my back) is fragile and his run as a top notch q.b. is nearing an end. I'll take whatever you want to wager that Brady doesn't put up the numbers Romo puts up this year. Too much rust for a mediocer q.b. to shake off. Bellichek is over the hill in N.E. by the way where is New England? Is that a providance some place?

Boston finally won a couple World Championships in football, baseball and hoops after a longer drout than any Cowboys or Yankees team in their history ever. If hockey counted then there could be talk about greatness, but with that being said, enjoy your tiem now because the light is going dim in Beantown, good night now!

  7. Baseball on the West Coast. Joe Torre is doing great with his Dodgers. They have on the best records on baseball, undefeted at home 10-0 with the best wining % of 692%.

Chad Billingsly won today he's solid @ 5-0, and he pitched in an RBI in the 6th. Thsi win streak is their best since the Ebbets Field days. Great news in West coast baseball, the Dodgers are good for baseball and Joe Torre looks good in L.A.

Yanks & Angels got rained out, Boston goes down to a lowly Tampa Bay team. C. Crawford stole so many bases today he should have been arrested! Six steals tying a major league record. Varitek was so blown away by his speed he couldn't even throw on Crawford several times, I guess that's what happens when you get old. Yanks need a win to close up this 3.5 game lead Toronto has on us.
